When should I be concerned about a cough?
Come in if your cough has lasted more than 3 weeks, is producing blood-tinged mucus, is accompanied by significant shortness of breath, fever, or chest pain, or is severe enough to disrupt sleep or daily activity.
Can a medication cause a chronic cough?
Yes. ACE inhibitors โ a common class of blood pressure medications โ can cause a persistent dry cough in some patients. If you recently started a new medication and developed a cough, let your provider know. This is one of many reasons a thorough medical history review matters.
