What Is a DOT Physical?
A DOT physical is a medical examination required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for all commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers.
The exam ensures that drivers are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to safely operate a commercial vehicle. Upon passing, you’ll receive a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) — commonly called a DOT Medical Card.
Certificates are valid for up to 2 years, though drivers with certain conditions may receive shorter-term certificates pending follow-up care.

Who Needs a DOT Physical?
