Headaches:

A headache is pain in any area of the head, which may occur on one or both sides of the head. Pain may be isolated to a certain location, radiate across the head, or feel like a throbbing, sharp, or dull ache. Headaches can come on suddenly or develop over time and can last anywhere from less than an hour to several days.

Types of headaches:

Tension headaches in Novi MI are the most common type of headache, and feels like a constant pressure around the head, especially near the temples or at the back of the head. These headaches do not usually cause nausea or interfere with daily activities, though they may be uncomfortable.

Cluster headaches are recurring and occur in groups. They will appear suddenly and bring about a severe pain on one side of the head which is usually accompanied by watering of the eye and nasal discharge on the same side.

Sinus headaches are associated with inflammation of the sinuses. Sinus headaches can usually be treated along with sinus infections using antihistamines, decongestants, and when necessary, antibiotics.

Migraine headaches are often described as throbbing on one side of the head. The pain can be moderate-to-severe and often interferes with daily activities. Migraines are often associated with nausea, vomiting, and/or sensitivity to light and sound.

We are often asked if we can treat people over the phone. While some conditions may permit a telemed visit, most ailments are better diagnosed when we can put our eyes on our patients. Most conditions are common but we can often find something on an exam that may point us in a direction to a better diagnosis.

One of the things we take pride in is that we make sure to communicate with your primary provider when we make a diagnosis or get closer to figuring out why you have your current symptoms. After your visit we will send over any results we have from tests that we perform and any paperwork that will help your primary doctor continue to care for you. We understand what it means to be patient centered!
